I am also a pastor at Evans United Methodist and a chaplain at Boulder Community Hospital.

I am a Professor Emeritus of Computer Science at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Although I am technically retired, I still teach 3D modeling and animation at the University's Alliance for Technology, Learning, and Society. The image at the top of this page is a rendering of a church model I created.

My areas of expertise in technology include 3D modeling and animation with Maya, audio editing and repair, database and information system design, and multiplayer, networked game development with Unity. My research has been supported by DARPA, the U.S. Navy, the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Army, and IBM.

I received my B.A. in Math from Occidental College and my Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Southern California. I am also a graduate of the seminary at the Iliff School of Theology.

I grew up in Oxnard, California, and currently live in Boulder, Colorado.

My wife Wendy is usually at our Sunday services. We have three kids, Julien, who is an engineer, Isabelle, who teaches in a bilingual elementary school in Denver, and Martina, who is a physician.

As a pastor, I love to deliver historically-rooted, biblically-based, and personal messages that are relevant to everyone. I also particularly love the few minutes I spend every Sunday, sitting down with the kids in front of the altar during the service.

I believe in living with empathy, forgiveness, and generosity, and with a genuine concern for the welfare of all people.
